Revd. Val Dawson

Permission to officiate

Val has been contentedly married to Robin since 2008. In that year she also retired as Associate Vicar in Surbiton, where she had been for 10 yrs and moved with Robin to Chesterfield and joined the congregation at St Thomas’. She was ordained priest with the first women in 1994. She has 2 daughters her elder one died of leukaemia when 22 yrs, the younger one lives in Australia with a daughter. She determined to retire ‘properly’ on getting married and so now has joined a writing group and a quilting course. But she is happy to support and help out as needed and has a quiet ministry of listening and spiritual direction. She is learning the art of ageing (I hope) gracefully and gratefully, and her core interest is in all things dance.
